In early February, Aymen Saleh—a Canterbury, England native who performs underneath the identify Holy Pinto—paid homage to his adopted hometown with a star-studded and local-landmark-laden music video for a song called “Milwaukee.” Roughly one month after releasing the heartwarming tribute to a number of the folks, locations, and issues that make the town such a particular place, Milwaukee appeared dramatically completely different than it did in that music video.

In the course of the early days of the COVID-19 disaster (which continues to be occurring, by the way in which), Saleh and videographer Sean McDowell got down to seize the vacancy and dreariness of Milwaukee in “lockdown” with extra charming visuals set to music. The video for “Particular,” Holy Pinto’s newest single, finds the singer-songwriter taking within the sights and (lack of) sounds throughout a dour March afternoon stroll down Brady Avenue and round downtown Milwaukee. As darkness falls, Saleh comes to understand he’s not alone in any case.

“Particular” was self-recorded by Saleh, who hauled all of all of his gear, together with something he may “beg, steal or borrow,” to a warehouse about 30 minutes exterior of Milwaukee. The one exceptions to this recording course of had been the grand piano elements—which he recorded on a piano {that a} restore warehouse allowed him to make use of—and string accompaniment that was later added by Phil Breggs of Wire & Nail. Regardless of on a regular basis and work he put into the brand new track and video, Saleh tells us “Particular” was solely meant to be a single that helped him keep busy and within the minds of listeners throughout this span of musical inaction.

“It seems like—and has been—months since I’ve executed any public musical exercise, and didn’t wish to completely disappear for the remainder of the 12 months,” Saleh says. “The track actually captures a whole lot of my temper over the primary half of the 12 months, so it felt poignant to place on the market. Each the video and the track will all the time really feel like a time capsule for me.”
